W&AM Insights: Economic Optimism Continues To Decline
ECONOMIC OUTLOOK – April 2018 Measurement
Despite a moderate increase in the Consumer Confidence Index, the W&AM Economic Optimism trend line continued its declining trend among both Mass Affluent (down four points to 65%) and HNW investors (down two points to 67%).
INVESTING OUTLOOK – April 2018 Measurement
The W&AM Investment Optimism trend line reversed its three-month decline among HNW investors, (gaining five points to 33%). The trend line for Mass Affluent held relatively steady (declining slightly to 34%).
Having been very cautious about the investment climate since last December, HNW investors may be seeing value in taking money off the sidelines and putting it back into the market. However, the declining confidence in the U.S. economy among both HNW and Mass Affluent may put some constraints on investment enthusiasm.
