W&AM Insights: Economic sentiment continues its downward trend among HNW investors

ECONOMIC OUTLOOK  – November 2018 Measurement

Following midterm elections, concerns over the economy resulted in a 3-period downward W&AM Optimism trend line among HNW investors, from 82% in September to 64% in November. Mass Affluent investors showed less movement, albeit they were also less positive in November compared to October (70% vs. 72%).

INVESTING OUTLOOK – November 2018 Measurement

The W&AM Investment Optimism trend line measured in at 33% among HNW households, representing a 2 point increase from the prior month. This metric declined from 30% to 28% among the Mass Affluent.


Worries over business conditions, market volatility, and uncertainty of interest rates led to a declining economic sentiment. However HNW households looked to take advantage of considerable market declines with the prospect of significant upside potential.
